What are family constellations?
Family constellations are immersive therapeutic group experiences based on the constellation work of Bert Hellinger, the roots of which arose from the Zulu people in South Africa and their community healing practices.
Family Constellations with Horses will be facilitated by Licensed Therapist, Chelsea Green, owner of Anu Beginning Therapy. Chelsea was trained in family constellation facilitation by Suzi Tucker, and says of the practice, "Constellations offer a safe container within which we can see more clearly what's been hidden, unclear or overwhelming. We get to better understand parts of ourselves, parts of our family members, or parts of our past. During a constellation, we get to experience watching what someone else would do in our shoes. We get to see the depths of our shared humanity and that is incredibly healing."
What should workshop participants expect?
Chelsea will introduce constellations theory and practice, then guide a brief mindfulness meditation, and proceed to facilitate constellations for the participants and horses who volunteer to take more active roles.
Kim Hallin of Unbridled will help participants' deepen their awareness of horse herd dynamics and the observable ways horses communicate with humans and each other. Kim is intimately familiar with the horses who make up the Unbridled herd and excels at gently guiding human participants to "see", understand and reflect on the horses' contributions.
And why horses?
As herd animals, horses are naturally highly attuned to the environmental and family systems in which they live. As prey animals, horses respond and align organically to shifting influences, energies and relationships that develop within these systems.
Horses' natural process of alignment extends to us when we join their herd in a spirit of kinship and connection. Horses draw on the collective emotional intelligence of the equine/human herd as well as a deep ancestral wisdom (the Horse Collective) to see and understand the bigger picture, and respond accordingly.
Involving horses in family constellation workshops provides next-level insights and healing opportunities. Best of all, the horses have shown us they really enjoy the opportunity to showcase their intuitive abilities!
